Crispy Tofu Stir-Fry

Ingredients

  • 14 oz firm tofu

  • 2 tbsp cornstarch

  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

  • 1 bell pepper, sliced

  • 1 small onion, sliced

  • 3 green onions, chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce

  • Salt, to taste

  • Pepper, to taste

Directions

  1. Press the tofu for about 15 minutes to remove excess moisture. Cut the tofu into 1-inch cubes.

  2. Toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch until evenly coated.

  3. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add tofu cubes and cook for 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy.

  4. Remove tofu from the skillet and set aside on a plate lined with paper towels.

  5. In the same skillet, add the remaining oil and sauté the onion and bell pepper for 3-4 minutes until softened.

  6. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.

  7. Return the crispy tofu to the skillet, add soy sauce and hoisin sauce. Toss everything until well combined and heated through.

  8. Sprinkle chopped green onions on top before serving.
